About Us: North Shore Home Inspection

A HOME inspection is another one of those jobs best left to professionals. Few of us have the expertise to identify electrical, plumbing and structural problems. Combine that with the emotional factors of buying a home, and it’s easy to see why potential buyers are not the ones who need to do the inspecting. With that said, it’s a good idea to accompany your home inspector so you can ask questions and see the good and not-so-good for yourself.

A home inspection, also known as a building inspection or a property inspection, is a thorough visual assessment of a home conducted by a certified professional home inspector at a specific point in time.

While a home may be inspected for many reasons most home inspections occur before a home is sold, to reveal any issues that might become problems for the buyer. A home seller may also choose to have a home inspection done prior to listing a property, in order to avoid any unpleasant surprises during negotiations.

A home inspection will typically include a walk-through tour of the house during which the condition of the property is closely scrutinized, any defects and deficiencies are noted, and recommendations for repair are made. During the home inspection the inspector will look for issues that could have significant impact from a health and safety perspective, or purely from a financial standpoint.

  • A typical home inspection takes two to three hours, and during this time the house is examined from the ground up and from the outside in.
  • A good home inspection should include observation, and when appropriate the operation, of the plumbing, heating, air conditioning, electrical, as well as observation of structural components: roof, foundation, basement, exterior and interior walls, chimney, doors, and windows.
  • Findings should be provided in the form of a comprehensive inspection report, which includes an objective evaluation of the condition the home clearly outlining any existing defects and potential problems.

***** Extremely responsive, professional and well prepared. Rich did a thorough job, pointing out his findings as he went along so there were no surprises in the final report; which was received very soon after the inspection. A pleasure to do business with.

  • Review: Home Inspection Service
2 years agoRich did a full house inspection on a property we were looking to purchase. He was very thorough and took his time in home which was a little over 3000 sq.ft. As I walked with him during the inspection he pointed items out to me as well as explained possible future issues.
Rich showed up on time and ready to go for the inspection. He was great to deal with and had excellent knowledge of what he was doing. He was thorough and very informative during the inspection taking time with explanations and minor vs major issues. He also provided insight to certain code standards which I was not aware of being from out of state. Overall if I was to look to purchase another home or for any future inspections I will use Rich at North Shore Home Inspection services.?

Project:Inspect a Home

Review:*****2 years ago Complete home and termite inspection.
Rich arrived at my home on time and spent 3 hours going through every part of home with me. During the inspection, he kindly explained to me each problem he discovered. He is a very thorough and a real professional. He photographed each problem area and later incorporated these photos in his report. A day later, as promised he emailed me a detailed report (PDF file) of his inspection, and the termite inspection and told me to call him any time if I had any questions about my home. Bottom line is, Rich knows what he is doing and is a great guy. Based on my experience with him, I can recommend him strongly to anyone who is buying or selling a home.
